Chicks are about 2 weeks old and very active and I can tell mom is itching to free range. When I let the main flock out, she paces.

Any advice on how I should take my next steps? Keep them segregated? Allow mom to bring them back into the flock (where the other chick was killed)?

Allow supervised free range time with the flock but try to keep her from returning to the main coop at dusk? Or just let the family unit free range?

I'm open to advice!

I'd let them all out around dusk and supervise, she'll take them back in the evening where she feels it's safe.

This is what I do as well. Grab a lawn chair, a beverage of your choice, and some sort of chicken feed or scratch to distract any hens that might get a little too rough. Just be sure to scatter enough in different places that you don’t create a fight over one pile of food. I have never had to break up any fights. I have had a time or two when I was about to step in but my rooster has always put a stop to anything before I needed to.

Ok thank you both! I'll try to free range everyone together this afternoon shortly before dusk and see what happens. No rooster (yet) so I'll be the rooster and make sure no littles are harmed.
Just keep in mind, if the littles do wander by the bigs there will be pecking, but it shouldn't get too rough.
