Hey everybody, I have a question. I bought 9 hens from a lady, a couple of dommers, 4 Delawares, and 3 mixed breed. I have a couple of roosters also, and one banty rooster. The hens won't sit on the eggs, I have read alot on this forum and tried several different things and no luck. A friend said to get a game hen to sit on the eggs. From what I've heard local thats the way alot of people around here do it. Any thoughts on this.

I hear Silkie hens are very prone to broodiness. So if you got one of those you'll probably have some chicks sooner or later. I'm not familiar with game hens, sorry!

My game hen was a great broody. She would even hatch and raise gosling and turkey eggs. I'll second that Silkies are AH-mazing broodies! Cochins are top-notch mamas as well, and they come in bantam or LF. My LF Cochin girls are very large, their fluffy butts cover alot of eggs. Good luck!
