Gamebird grower feed for ducks?

I have been surprised when living in semi-rural areas how few options there are for some things, like feed, and fresh produce. But that is a digression. . . .

So impressed with how well you are working with your ducks!

Amiga I am always surprised at how few of choices so many have for their birds. I highly reccomend searching out mom & pop type feed stores and or feed mills. You will usually get better service, and find more knowledgable people. I have written up our feeding routine and posted it to the farms web site for others to see as well. Atleast gives ideas for base feed: http://celticoaks.com/home/feedtreatmentsmedicine-cabinet/what-we-feed

Nice, thanks! I think there is one feed mill in this state, not sure if it is still up and running. I get my feed from a mom and pop hardware store that carries feed and bedding. I have tried several kinds of feed, and currently use Blue Seal Organic Layer. Thanks for the link!

Bless you for that feed page!

My mom and pop shops are surprisingly not willing to order feeds outside the brands they deal with. I called one yesterday and he didn't know what Mazuri (I asked specifically if he could order some for me) was AND he only wanted to order foods from a certain brand (that I had never heard from) and the food was the gamebird stuff. It's really frustrating. All these feed stores know chickens and none of them know anything more about ducks than feed them til you eat them or throw them on your pond and let them fend for themselves for the most part. I must be quite odd that I am utilizing ducks for eggs because I get a lot puzzled looks. I'm personally not comfortable offering my ducks laying feed when I have my drakes in there. I know some people do it, but I can't do something that my gut is telling me not to do.

So flock raiser for them all with grains, greens, oats and oyster shell for my layers. I am actually going to call my local tractor supply and ask them about mazuri. I cannot afford it for my entire flock but I'd love to use it with my geese for the first few months at least. Maybe once my ladies begin to lay and I can sell off my extra eggs I can then maybe see about Mazuri for my ducks and geese. The extra money from the eggs would help offset feed costs. *fingers crossed* I would LOVE to feed my ducks a pellet food anyway- they are a mess with wasting half their feed.

I wonder if I could mix the flock raiser WITH Mazuri maintenance pellets to make it go farther? Or one meal flock raiser and one meal Mazuri? I am feeding 14 ducks, 2 goslings and 18 chicks - (my bird math scares me sometimes lol)...I can feed flock raiser to them all, and the main meal of my ducks/geese could be pellets? I like that it's just a 'food'. Not layer, not breeder...just food. I am looking now for more places that might carry it.

i just looked at the Mazuri website because that is what we use for our ornametals only. I don't see the free shipping.

it these are domestic ducks you have they just need gamebird grower as babies and then alying pellets once they are grown. That is what we have been feeding them for 20+ years.

I does not say it on the site- I saw it when I was checking out to my surprise and excitement. UPS option is $0.00. I just got charged tax.

this is my actual receipt that was emailed to me and all that my card was charged. I played with the cart and added more bags and the shopping was still 0.

Interesting.. It gives me a price for the different shipping options and prcies.. Which is bad because I go thorugh about 3 bags a week and i takes forever for our feed store to get it in

It gives me 3 price options. The first says UPS and 0 in the amount. The next 2 are insanely expensive. My bank account reflects what my receipt says too regarding the charge amount. I wonder why I get free shipping? That's SO weird!
