All it takes is a glint of light in your eye or a fly buzzing by you face that catches their attention.Good to know. I like having two eyes. Artmis always tries, but my husband grabs him. Bekah never attempts to do it.

If you want to keep them friendly or affectionate, I recommend redirecting them to perch in your lap and rewarding that behavior instead. Be mindful of poop though.Good to know. I like having two eyes. Artmis always tries, but my husband grabs him. Bekah never attempts to do it.

From their combs, they both appear to be male, also 'bekah' has red feathers coming in on the wings.I live in a populated area and will be taming all my chickens. Arty was there long enough to take a photo. My husband removes her. What is the reasoning for your tip?
X2 plus in chicken language you are either a subordinate hen or a mating option. I’ve had two full grown hens try to jump on my shoulder when I entered the run. If they try it with me they’ll try it with kids so that’s a one and done thing.Taming them is fine, perching on your shoulder could very easily lead to an eye injury if you're not careful. I did the same with my first batch of chicks and one nearly nailed me when I was cleaning the coop and she was perched on my shoulder. She also developed the bad habit of pecking at my ear.

Teaching them you can be perched on is bad because they will try to perch on you when you're not expecting it, resulting in poop covered claws going into your face, neck, eyes, mouth etc. These are nasty wounds and the infection can be very hard to get on top of.
Secondly, in chicken hierarchy, the low ranking birds get sat and are always below the dominate chickens, you're telling them " I'm subordinate to you, you're the top chicken, feel free to beat me up if you want."
It's not something you want to encourage especially with males.
I thought so. Breaks my heart. I can't have two roosters.beat me to it!
My chicks never pooped on me. They do get it on their feet and climb on me though, lol.Poo is the worst![]()
I’m sure you will be able to find a nice home for them-I think there is even a byc forum for that or you can go on the forum for your state specificallyI thought so. Breaks my heart. I can't have two roosters.
