So, I was up till 3am till I finally could pass out without fretting. Currently at 3 chicks out n about, 1 still attached to its shell, but getting its rest till it tries some more... 1 that nearly drown twice on its own fluids (pip'd WAY too early for its readiness) is still chillin in her 3/4 of egg... The last one I actually looked with a flash light inside her shell, pretty sure I still saw yolk last night...so she/he is chilling in the back of the bator on a piece of egg carton so she don't get tossed around anymore.
Splash Maran
400

Black Copper Maran
400

Araucana, might be single tuft...
400

This chick was in a huge egg... Splash Maran(sorry very foggy in there now ;) )
400

Still 8 to pip/hatch besides the one on the sidelines, that I hope will not have any brain damage from nearly drowning twice...I'm pretty worried for that one...might still get some breathing issue... We'll see.

Quick Q, these 3 running around aren't drying the way I've read or seen in others photos..,their down is staying wet looking, but really is stiff and plastered to them, I'm assuming from the shell goop(that stuff is STICKEEEEY!)... How do I get them to fluff? Will I need to run them under warm water?! Or do they clean themselves fluffy?(seen the first one to hatch start to attempt preening but it doesn't have great balance to pull it off yet) we're at about 12hrs old for first hatched btw.

Thanks guys! Bullets was crackin me up with a few answers toward the end of last nights game after I left... :lau

Congrats! If they are really sticky, check their eyes and nostrils first. If those are clear, I usually let them clean themselves, if it isn't too bad. Rubbing them a little extra is fine to help. I also use a mascara brush on them.

Washing can be done, but I usually only do it at last resort. Like if they are sticky for a few days. Then just dab with a wet brush, and dry with a warm cloth or blow dryer set on very low.

Ya, the worst one had some of the shell skin on it, and so that one I have already dabbed with water and pulled that off, put back in bator. My bator is holding humidity really well, just temp is fluctuating with each hatch (getting hotter) so, I don't think I have impacted the others too much by the "helping" that I know I prolly shouldn't be doing, but with it being my first hatch, and prolly some fumbling during their 21 days due to learning, Im trying to help them not be miserable there first day or so of existence lol... For my first hatch, I'd say I did pretty ok...

These marans were shipped eggs and my first whole set to successfully make it past 10 days, got them from "bluewaterranch" on ebay, not sure if she is on here or not... but all the eggs but maybe 2 were fertilized, and no cracks etc... highly recommend her. Another that packs extremely well is barkingchickensva(has many nice, rare breeds, I want more of her chickens)... now... in the other two bators I still have 80+ eggs between them 45+ are more araucana, which showed growth at day 3, even the breeder was shocked to hear that as he thought his roosters were showing favorites to single hens and his hatch rate has gone down...I havent turned them(just tip them a diff direction in their egg cartons with the bottoms cut out) since they are so delicate and hard to hatch breed, so maybe that is the secret, is no auto turners? Who knows... If even half of those make it to lock down, I will need to find buyers lol, only planned for maybe 10 of them, bought 36, he game me 60+

This whole Hatching egg experience has been unbelievable, I got at least 60 eggs extra total between all my various orders than I actually ordered... from being sent someone elses extras, or they were short a specific color so made up for it in extras of something else, to mistaken the amount bought because there were 2 auctions... been "good""dumb" luck, but I had to buy two more incubators to catch up lol... so Ive had a very quick/sharp learning curve... I should stop rambling, running on how much sleep? :caf

I missed the game but it looked like great fun. Awesome job @RavynFallen and all the players! :clap

I have a group of big ducks that patrol the yard in the evening... one ducked down and scurried around a brooder house and looked just like a scampering coon for a min! :lau

I will do more games again! :D

Too bad I seem to have missed the games.

There will be more to come, no doubt! Hopefully you can catch some!

THANK YOU @RavynFallen for hosting a game and providing awesome prizes! It looked like it was a lot of fun. And I MISSED it!!

Thanks, cj! It was a blast all around!

I'm thinking of another game that more could be involved in... would have a few days for contestants to complete...

Like a BYC Scavenger Hunt? Thoughts on that?
