GAMES FOR EGGS and other fun prizes

That guy up there over various hens - EEs, marans, buff orps, cochins, etc etc. He has at least one blue/green egg gene (his father was an Ameraucana) so some of his offspring should lay blue or green.

One of his chicks from this year:

So cute! I want to start a breeding pen of polish and am trying to find a frizzle near me lol, but those eggs could be tons of fun!!

When my chickens start laying better I can donate eggs for a game but there be bantam mix eggs. There's silkies Cochin turken frizzle all in my pen and also serama but there in there own pen so there be pure

Ya, the worst one had some of the shell skin on it, and so that one I have already dabbed with water and pulled that off, put back in bator. My bator is holding humidity really well, just temp is fluctuating with each hatch (getting hotter) so, I don't think I have impacted the others too much by the "helping" that I know I prolly shouldn't be doing, but with it being my first hatch, and prolly some fumbling during their 21 days due to learning, Im trying to help them not be miserable there first day or so of existence lol... For my first hatch, I'd say I did pretty ok...

These marans were shipped eggs and my first whole set to successfully make it past 10 days, got them from "bluewaterranch" on ebay, not sure if she is on here or not... but all the eggs but maybe 2 were fertilized, and no cracks etc... highly recommend her. Another that packs extremely well is barkingchickensva(has many nice, rare breeds, I want more of her chickens)... now... in the other two bators I still have 80+ eggs between them 45+ are more araucana, which showed growth at day 3, even the breeder was shocked to hear that as he thought his roosters were showing favorites to single hens and his hatch rate has gone down...I havent turned them(just tip them a diff direction in their egg cartons with the bottoms cut out) since they are so delicate and hard to hatch breed, so maybe that is the secret, is no auto turners? Who knows... If even half of those make it to lock down, I will need to find buyers lol, only planned for maybe 10 of them, bought 36, he game me 60+

This whole Hatching egg experience has been unbelievable, I got at least 60 eggs extra total between all my various orders than I actually ordered... from being sent someone elses extras, or they were short a specific color so made up for it in extras of something else, to mistaken the amount bought because there were 2 auctions... been "good""dumb" luck, but I had to buy two more incubators to catch up lol... so Ive had a very quick/sharp learning curve... I should stop rambling, running on how much sleep?

barkingchickensva-I got eggs from them-was really hoping to get some of the phoenix. sumatra, etc... first batch was a dud-hatched 1 phoenix, 1 Am longtail & 1 hematora that didn't make it. bought the 50% refund policy deal after 1 sent all the pics. didn't get any of the above. ended up with exactly 12-no extras-5 mottled java, 3 watermaels & the rest brahmas. Don't think I will buy an assortment again just because of shipped egg hatch rate (I'm averaging about 40%-50%) and the chance of only hatching one of each-which could definitely end up a roo. But nothing wrong on their part. Just as a newbie I am learning to buy exactly what I want and have so many different breeds now, learning which ones I "like" and which ones I "love".

I haven't been too lucky with assortments either. You get pulled in for the chance, but get what aren't really too rare anymore... That's why I have I think 8 Wyandottes in my bator right now lol. I don't even want them, but I wasn't going to waste them, plus I need to learn this skill of hatching so when it matters, I don't screw it up

I feel ya on that one. I am really surprised on how well I have done with my Serama shipped eggs! I think the best batch I have had so far were lavender and chocolate orps-almost 80%! Waiting to see on these BCM's-they came a day late and 2 were broke and she sent me another 15 eggs on top of the 15 I already had. I want to use those for an olive egger project and also because I heard they taste really good and are packed with protein/albumin. I want my duck eggs to bake and sell to the girls at work for baking-heard they are far better than chicken eggs! Otherwise, I'm just enjoying the birds and all their different personalities right now
