GAMES FOR EGGS and other fun prizes

I second so much of this post! CJ your birds are so pretty! I wish I could see them in person!! maybe some day I'll actually play seriously and have a chance to hatch some from your drool worthy birds.

meltel it too only had 2 serama hatch from a ton of shipped eggs this fall. I did not expect it have so many issues rebuilding my flock!!!! No more shipped serama eggs for me for awhile!
they are already hard to hatch as it is-50% is great in my eyes on shipped serama eggs. 6 dozen are MIA with the post office-but what can i do... If i get one great bird that hatches I am happy! I am sorry you are having troubles rebuilding your flock. I am probably not going to do shipped serama eggs or chicks-mainly because of the problems @cjwaldon has encountered. I want to grow my birds out and know what i am selling. i am glad she has entrusted her birds to me & the people that will appreciate, care and breed them appropriately. There is no guarantee what hatches. you can pair 2 perfect birds and still get duds.but people will still try and breed and sell them as "champions". Please keep in touch if you are looking to rebuild your flock in the future. I am going to look into how to safely ship birds and will try to offer deals to those who are looking to improve the breed once I have an established, proven flock.

Sorry-I get confused myself sometime.... WINE! White earlobes in Seramas are like feathered legs in your Cemani. Seramas show in cage and the "perform" for tabletop. Only pure white can win in cage but any color can win on tabletop. Even though "Bro" has white earlobes which are almost impossible to breed out, he is a beautiful and strong enough bird in other aspects that I would still breed him and one day hope to figure out how to get rid of the white earlobes....

Thanks for the explanation!

Funny hearing you say white earlobes are almost impossible to breed out in seramas. IF ONLY that were the same with Leghorns!

Speaking of earlobes, does anyone know why fantastic white earlobes seen to get less and less fantastic with more red creeping as the bird ages?

Have you seen this new incubator from Brinsea? It is "perfect" IMHO with everything integrated. https://www.brinsea.com/p-584-ovation-28-ex-fully-automatic-digital-egg-incubator.aspx
I saw this when it became available in the UK, but not here. Then I got an email about it, but couldn't find a price. Thanks for sharing! I'd love to have one, but probably not gonna spend that.
I'm not picky. I like wheel of fortune because everybody takes turns. I am also up for a good old guess how many whatevers.... I would play tonight but The Walking Dead is on and I am a die hard fan! I already have 4 babies from you and a possible hatch coming so I want to make sure somebody who really wants your eggs that will appreciate them will get a turn to have them. Just let me know and please-if people want to play-don't hold up a game for me. it's been far too long since we've had a good game!!!
I wanted to watch WD too, but hubby got uninterested in it. Guess I'll watch on-demand when he goes out of town next time. :/
Here's those dreaded feathered legs. :hit I'm going to have to catch him and look at him real close. I can't tell if that's feather leakage or light reflection I'm seeing. I sure didn't notice those light spots while taking the photos.
Gosh, he's still gorgeous!!

I had good luck with my shippd seramas. From FL to WV. 19 eggs, 3 clear, I think. The 16 made it to lock down, 11 hatched, but 2 died after a couple of weeks. But I was still quite pleased.

We could play BattleChick for the AC chicks, where there would be a "ship" for each set of chicks that could be shipped. So if there end up being 12 chicks, there would be two "ships" to sink. What do you think?

He's still gorgeous though... and 100% Ayam Cemani... :D Out of my keeper male and 1st pullet laying, I've gotten a couple with heavy feather stubs... BUT this hatch so far, same pair, 3 out of 4 have perfect clean legs... to me that's not half bad odds... and I do not believe it's the same gene that is in feather-legged breeds... I think it's something else...
400
Feather stubbed one is on far left...
He's gorgeous. I honestly wouldn't have caught those feathered legs... I'll have to keep an eye out for it with the chicks I have just in case. And I hope I have even one chick from your line look as good as that one does! I can't wait for mine to hatch! The waiting is killing me... I'm only on day 3...
Good luck on your hatch! You'll get some nice ones, no doubt! :)
Those dreaded feather stubs! I was disappointed several times this year when I hatched a gorgeous, all black chick, excellent candidate for growing out...and then noticed it had feather stubs :( Never had that happen until my two current roosters. Needless to say, they are getting the boot from the breeding flock.
Hope your new guy does the job... :D ;)
@Pyxis I would love to have some of your birds and @RavynFallen too!!!
I'm a bare novice, ya'll... but thanks... I gots a long way to go yet...

Gravity???

I like that... I probably won't be able to afford the fee at that time, but sounds like great fun... :)

Sounds cool to me too. And if there aren't 12 eggs, you could do one ship that takes more hits to sink, so whoever gets the bigger one wins 6, the smaller one gets the rest.

My AC eggs from CJ are on lockdown. I also have 7 ameraucana eggs getting ready to hatch. 2 of those are already pipped, as the ameraucana were 3 days ahead of the ACs. Hope they're ok; I locked the AC eggs down a couple days early because of the ameraucana eggs. I expectt, since they are shipped eggs, the extra time will just help the AC's air cells settle. Either way, should have some poofy-cheeked fuzzies tomorrow and some black fuzzies in a few days.

Good luck :fl hope you will post pics!

Love the idea of battle chicks !!
Lol

I was even thinking that like in the battle ship game there is one board but multiple birds (think a word find but blanks not extra letters) and then the players try to sink the birds, and get like 1 point per hit but many points for a sunken breed/bird
