Congratulations!! Was it a good hatch? How many did you get? I think we need pics or it didn't happen.![]()
Congratulations! You mean to say that you're not going to join the New Years hatch a long![]()
I really like my homemade nipple waterers. They are simple to keep thawed with a bird bath deicer. I've never had an issue with them.Hatch isn't finished yet. Yes of course I'll post pics!
Nope, this really is my last hatch for the year. I won't be setting any more eggs until Feb. or Mar. Birds are comingled for the winter. I'm now emptying water fonts at night to keep them from freezing. Soon the fonts will be frozen before I get home from work, then I'll have to lug ice blocks into the garage to thaw overnight. I might have to invest in a heated font this year. They just don't look easy to use or durable. I use plastic fonts so home made tin heater base probably wouldn't work well.

Ill get you some pics when we get back home. I've used both horizontal and vertical with success. I like the horizontal better during the winter. They don't drip like the vertical on their combs and cause frostbite chances.Great idea! and nipple waterers are cleaner, too. That'll be great when I'm forced to put the water back inside the coops. Thanks!

My turkey drink from them without any problems I have 2 cat litter buckets with them onI also use nipple waterers in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket and keep a submersible heater in the bucket. They work pretty well and unless it's below 0,they typically don't freeze over. In the turkey pen, I use one of those heated pet bowls that you can get from tractor supply. I don't think those body birds are smart enough to figure out nipple waterers lol. Maybe I'll test that theory next summer![]()
