I made mine for the cost of the nipples...They're rediculous to buy them. I made mine. I thought about making them to sell them too lol
My Turkeys use them just fine! Even baby chicks I put it down low for them to reach, thinking They aren't going to get it yet, but at 2 1/2 wks old, they were awesome! They took to it like it was innate!I also use nipple waterers in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket and keep a submersible heater in the bucket. They work pretty well and unless it's below 0,they typically don't freeze over. In the turkey pen, I use one of those heated pet bowls that you can get from tractor supply. I don't think those body birds are smart enough to figure out nipple waterers lol. Maybe I'll test that theory next summer![]()

Then I'll have to set one up for them over the summer. Right now, the heated dish is good for winter but I can't stand that plastic water fount. It's a big, 5 gallon one. It's heavy, gets weird algae in it, and they slop food and mid in it constantly.
I am happy to report that I have an incubator full of chicks, a day early as usual.e Time to retire the Styrofoam incubator.
