Hi all,
So I got 2 geese a while back, presumably a male and a female. We quickly found out that the male wasn't really a male as 'he' was laying eggs, so we went out and got another male so that they could mate. Anyway all was fine for a while, but our initial female goose kept growing and still isn't laying eggs, so we've arrived at the point that we're pretty sure that 'she' is a male (this one is also by far the largest and most dominant, always approaches us first, attacks our dogs, etc.).
Anyway I'm aware that having 2 males and a female can be a problem, but instead of the 2 males fighting eachother over her, our youngest gander appears to attack our female whenever the older gander (the one we added later on) mounts the female. Earlier today I found the young gander violently biting down on her head and her eye was even bleeding as a result.
Is this just a young gander not knowing how to behave with regards to mating yet? He never tries to mount her himself, he just bites down on her neck when the other gander is mounting her. Would appreciate any input.
