Hello again Gander007 so sorry to be a bother m

y little baby is still small but is eating. You seem to know a lot about chickens so I hope you can help me with this new question, now the little chick has a swollen left eye and I just don't know what could be wrong with him. His siblings are doing just fine and growing like weeds. I do keep them warm and clean and fed with chick starter. He just breaks my heart, any advice would be muchly appreciated. Thanks so much, Julie

Sorry I just got back and on the computer busy last couple of days ..... I blow up your photo and it looks like your chick is feathering out just fine and yes I can make out the eye being swollen looks like a bug bite of just being pecked on by the others in the brooder .... Do you still have them in the brooder or are your chicks running around in the yard or coop yet ??



Mine just made it out to the introduction cage ......


I would spray some Bactine on a hand towel and dap the eye lightly and are there any other marks on the chick .... ??

Thank you thank you, I am off to the store to buy some medicines. I never thought of bactine as a chicken first aid but will now keep these things on hand thank you so much for getting back to me. They are still in the brooder at night but play outside during the day in their playpen as it is in the 90's here. What kind of beautiful babies do you have there? They are so very pretty!

I got back from the Hospital yesterday and found this and day 18 ...


The one's in the bottom row are hatching ...






This is late last night and by this morning I needed to put 6 into the brooder and 8 more are trying to get out of their shell ... Oh and these are Easter Egger chicks
