Thats about what I have been giving of the safeguard so should I give the safeguard 1 more day and start the tylan? Or give them together starting the tylan today? She is granddaughters 4 h hen for this year. Dont want to lose her for sure.

Can you take her to a vet?

Cost to the vet would be office visit ($45-$65), gram stain ~$30 and medication if needed.

Unfortunately we have no vets that will take care of chickens here. I got the oxytetracycline. Can you give me a dosage for it please. I have not had good luck in the past with tylan so I will try this. I have used the duramycin for egg yolk paratenitis with good results and sulmet for the occasional cold but this is something I have never used before. Thanks for all your help

I would start the Tylan now. She will be a carrier, just so you know, and can infect other chickens even if she gets better.

I know that the Duramycin 10 (tetracycline) dose is 1 tablespoon per gallon, but not sure about oxytetracycline, so you might want to ask someone that's actually used it before.

Pretty sure it's no less than 1 teaspoon, but not more than 1 tablespoon. Do you have a gram scale?
