Here's what I planning--should the snow ever leave!

Red & green bell peppers
tomatoes
Walla Walla onions
corn
sugar snap peas
green beans
summer squash
cucumbers

We also have strawberries along the southside of the house...

And I'd like to try cantaloupe this year....along with an herb garden...

All I have in mine so far are peas - and they are just starting to pop up.

Lettuce will go in sometime soon, but the rest will have to wait until last frost (unless I get off my patoot and start some stuff inside...).

I can't plant until the 10th of May - that's our "safe from frost" date. I will plant my seeds around the first of May depending on the weather forecast -

But I have my tomato plants purchased - 60 of them!!! German Red, Lemon Boy, Mr. Stripey, Beefmaster, Rutger's and Sweet 100, and I have started my cukes, basil and roma tomato's - not included in the others - started from seed on the window sill - I have beans and corn and okra waiting to go into the ground........plus nasturisum's and flower's!

And the list goes on and on.............

Oh, oh, oh I envy all of you. It is still to cold here for the garden, although I am thinking I could push it with some lettuce, broccoli, peas and the cooler weather veggies. Okay, now I know what I will be doing this week-end.

When I was younger, I used to dream about living where it snowed. Now that I am older, I don't think I could stand to wait every spring for the snow to melt! (Or the cold, blowing WIND!) But it IS beautiful, and so are those mountains!

I am a rose and perennial nut, so I have been concentrating on my ornamental beds, but I do have strawberries and grapes, asparagus, lots of rosemary, basil, and sage, and plan on putting in some tomatoes and squash still this year. I have a large garden area that had a great garden the first year, but the next the grasshoppers and bugs took over. So I got CHICKENS this year. I am going to let them in the garden area all summer, then try again next year. This year I only have raised beds close to the house.

My seeds are still in the huge bag on the kitchen island. Dh got the plot ready to lay rows out and it has rained every day he's been home for over a week... So, we will get it done next week--maybe.

So far, I have purchased everything I need.

I have spinach, carrots, cukes, pickes, tomatoes, and green peppers in the garden window. They all got started about 4 weeks ago. I've got a ton of other seeds, I couldn't begin to list them... well, I could... pumpkin, spaghetti squash, snow peas, corn, beets, radishes, etc. I also have several packets of zuchini/squash to plant to supplement the pigs' feed.

Being in Michigan, I'm kind of limited as to how early I can start working outdoors. For example, we've been in the 70s all week, but next week it's supposed to drop back into the 30s and 40s.

I've seen a foot of snow the last week of April before. I think it's pretty safe to plant the outdoor garden during Memorial weekend, which is what I'm planning to do this year.

Last weekend we planted 11 apple trees. I can't wait until 2011 when they'll actually start producing some apples!

My husband started tilling up the new strawberry patch today for me... I have 50 strawberry plants to get in the ground. We also have 6 raspberry bushes and 6 blackberry bushes to plant, but we haven't decided where yet.

Ohhh, I love April and May! One of my favorite times of the year! Warmer weather, working outside, planting, getting all the new animals...
