Well I'm only half whitie (the other half is Native) and I love collards and okra. Chitlins are so gross though. Gas stations round here fry chitlins and sell them and I hate walking into a chitlin stank store. Nasty.

Wow, this is stunning. I am so impressed your self sufficiency! I have chives, a sage plant and I just bought a few tomato plant, basil and pumpkins. Everything I plant gets pests and dies from something.....I am a terrbile, lousy, awful gardener. So, this is why I am always so amazed to see people like you who can actually make something grow!

And, I have never had okra. I live north of the mason dixon line.

I grow everything organic. Here's what you do when it comes to pests. Take some biodegradable soap, handmade soap you can find this in some stores or you can make your own (most store bought soaps are not biodegradable) and put bits of that or grate it and put it in a spray bottle. Add water to that and shake it up. Spray the soapy water on your plants and the bugs will go away. I've watched my tomato plants and I never saw the bugs die from the mix...they just move on.

Edited to add: I feel sorry for y'all that never had okra. You haven't lived until you eat some yummy, crispy yet slimy in the middle fried okra.

Wow really nice I want to expand the garden and make it look something like yours but my mom says no my zukes, cukes, and squash are just flowering now so yours are ferther then mine my tomatoes are flowering and fruiting so yours are a bit behind mine. The greens have not done well in this heat I want to coop something and grow greens there.

great garden southern, really like how you have the sprinklers set up. do you plant your squash around the corn? we do that it helps shade the corn roots and give the squash something to trail on.

Ok, I know that jelousy is not a nice emotion, but as an honest woman, I have to tell you that your garden make me green!!!

You must be at least two months ahead of us up here in Northern Wisconsin. My poor poor tomatoes and peppers have not grown an inch in this chilly weather!!! Enjoy your beautiful, lush garden. And please remember us northern gardeners toiling away up here for naught!!!

wow that watering system is cool I really love the garden and I aspire to expand mine to be something as big or bigger than that. I did not know thats why natives planted squash on corn that cool ! I am sorry about your tomatoes ours got flea beetle but I used a bit of DE on them and they flea beetles are all of my egg plant! I am jealous that your are getting goats congrats !

Wow! I love that garden!!! Esp the cucumbers! They are my favorites! I have a cuc every night for snack as part of my weight loss!!! I currently have to buy them at the farmers market, 4/$1. But guess what?! I finally found a house in northern VA! And guess what it has!

I'm making a list now: Cucs, potatoes, carrots, corn, grape & reg tomatos, beans, peas, oh man, I'm excited!!!!
