Garden pictures (lots of pictures)

I wanted potatoes but I didn't get the seed potatoes in time for planting. By the time I finally made it to the feed store that had them they had sold out of the season.

I have a pack and a half (maybe more if I can find them) of okra seeds left - "Clemson Spineless". The plants grow tall with beautiful white hibiscus-type flowers. Pods are best picked small, otherwise they are tough and "woody". If anyone wants some, I will send them to you if you send me a SASE. PM me if interested.

Wow, I'm jealous. I've never gotten anything to grow where I live... I think it's because we get a lot of rain and not many warm days during the summer. My folks that live further north always have a great garden during their summer. Those zuchini's look mighty fine!

Hi Southern, nice veggie patch! Can't you start potato with a bit of potato itself by putting it in the ground, i believe it starts a whole potato plant that way. I'm always finding potato plants in my compost pile from the peelings I throw in there. Just a thought.

You can but store bought potatoes are treated and sometimes they won't produce spuds because of it. It's best to get pure seed potatoes. And I grow my own food so I don't have to worry about what chemicals might be on my food. I believe seed potatoes are only about 10-20 cents a pound here.

I bought one of these for weed control.

It's super easy to use and also oxygenates the soil. I found a smaller one in
a discount store for $7. It tears up the weeds.

We use no chemicals except for garden lime and chicken poop. If we get with bugs
I'll dust the plants with DE.

Southern, have your chickens got at your garden yet? Mine stare at it from behind
the fence. I swear they are drooling.

I've got one of those. One day I'll use it.

The chickens can't get to the garden thank goodness.

Hey Trisha, the garden looks great! You and I have just about the same stuff, but you have way more than I do,lol. I just saw seed potatoes at the feedstore yesterday, but its too late for them here, they were just leftovers on sale. Its looking good, keep up the hard work!

PC - I have one of those too. It's called a Garden Weasel. I actually forgot I had it, until I saw your post. Duh. I think mine comes apart for smaller areas, check yours, it might do the same thing.
