garden trimmings

my flock seems to enjoy weeds and trimmings out of the garden and the house as much or more than there normal layer mix. not sure if they are drinking as much as i thought about 4-5 gallons every other day. new stuff everyday with the flock . wish i had done this ears ago.

My flock of 40 can decimate a wheel barrow full of weeds and old lettuce in minutes! They do love it. Plus, it makes me happier to get outside & tend the garden.

I, too, just made the discovery that I could toss my weeds into the run for the chickens. The loved to scratch through eat and turn the weeds over as they feasted. I felt very "Mother Earth-y" as I pulled weeks from my vegetable garden and fed them to my chickens who use them to give me eggs. Life is good.
