(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Grew up raising in town chickens on and off for years. Currently my husband decided he wanted to raise chickens but they have become mine. We turned my huge fenced in garden into a chicken pen and my greenhouse into a chicken coop to support my "husbands" chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I have 7 chickens , possibly 3 Cockerels and 4 hens. We also have 3 ducks.
(3) What breeds do you have?

Think 3 different breeds: Rhode Island Reds, Silver Wyandots, and a Production Red.

Our ducks are a Rowen, a Khaki Campbell, and a Welsh Harlequin.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

They come running when you go out into the back yard, we have a significantly lower bug and pest problem, a greatly reduced weed problem, and the feral alley cats have left the area, my birds chase them off (which cracks me up to no end!)
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I make and sell home made preserves online and at the local farmers market. I love fishing, and being out doors when Nebraska allergens aren't trying to kill me.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have 4 boys, a toy poodle, and 2 betas.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Was looking up info on our Rhode Island Reds. Came across this forum.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
What are you going to do with those extra cockerels? Those are definitely boys in your first picture.
Unfortunately, they will be chicken dinner according to my husband... We are still struggling to sex them since only one has crowed and that is the one on the left from the two in the pic. The one on the right I think is a hen, since it clucks like a chicken and has started nesting. There is a ban on roosters here so he has to go or we face up to a $1,000 fine...
