Gardeners: chicken poop tea?

As soon as it stops raining, I'm going to very carefully experiment with these ideas. Another question though....if I let some chicken poo compost, how long does it need to compost to be safe from burning the young plants?
 
Some reading is in order before encouraging others to practice unsafe manure handling and gardening practices. Many of the posts above contain information that is not recommended. Applying fresh manure to a garden during the growing season is very risky business. While folks often mention the hot nature of chicken manure, they should be paying equal attention to the possibilities of e-coli and salmonella contamination. Virtually every State University Ag School and Ag Extension Departments publish guidelines concerning the use of manure.
