Gardeners: it's almost that time

I have two orders of seeds coming in. I cannot wait! We're doing lasagna gardening this year and I'm really psyched about it.

Got my ordered seeds in the mail a couple of weeks ago. Going to get my strawberries later on.
Not going to start anything until April. As cold as it was last summer not going to push my luck.

Going to try that square foot gardening I heard about. I normally just plant in rows. Got hailed out on July 4th last year too. Was a crazy year.

I'm ready to be out the planting something but the snow isn't cooperating!! The way things are going, I may just have to wait for that last dreaded frost date of April 20th.

I don't really have any place in the house to start seeds. Not to mention I've had a problem with them dampening off and croaking on me. I've got a place where I can buy heirlooms so I just let them do all the hard work.

Got all our seeds organized today.....will be planting a variety this year. Still snow here and rain today, but Praise the Lord.....we will appreciate it this summer

I picked up seeds; carrots, sugar snap peas (for me), and feild peas (for my feathered palz)
Seeds for some red sunflowers too. I have Plenty of sweet bi-color corn seeds for planting this spring. The Dollar stores stock PLENTY of seeds, usually 4 paks for 1 $, such a deal! I 've had excellent luck with these bargain seeds.

Beefsteak for slicing and Roma for sauces. I want to try some Rainbow heirlooms too if I can get some seeds from my mom. I think I may pick up some Cherry tomato seeds too. I never did get started, may start them today! I have all the stuff I need....except the motivation. I'm trying to find someone to come remove some trees and break the ground for me, but no luck yet that is within my budget. I wish it'd quit snowing!!

Yes I agree with you. I have spring fever also. Here at the homestead I'm gearing up for a great season. Chicks are ordered, should be here this week. Seeds are ordered, greenhouse will get fired up soon. This year I'm going to increase my corn by six rows, I enjoyed roasting it,and their never seems to be enough.
I had a great season last year for pumpkins so that will remain the same. Oh my potatoes I need to increase. My meal worms orders have increased. Now I'm just waiting for my kids to be born. Gosh just typing this is getting me fired up. I most likely will not spend as much time here, but we'll see. I invite you all to my site, at least to check it out. Their are a lot of resources their i've used for years when ordering supplies. If you do visit please feel free to leave comments.
Well Time to make my evening rounds.

MI is still covered in snow. I dream of a wide varity of veggies and m planning a new chicken food plot this year. A bunch of greens like spinach, collards, lettuces etc. I am growing sprouts in a windowsill for them right now.

I got all my seeds in the mail today along with my peat pots and pellets! It's getting closer... just itching to start the seeds! Have any of you ever had the "green zebra" heirloom tomatoes? A friend of mine was gabbing about them last year and brought one over for me to try, oh yum! A green tomato that gets light green stripes, hence zebra, when it's ripe. Oh it was so sweet. In the burgess Heirloom tomato seed package it says that it has the green zebras in there so I'm hoping I can succede in getting them going

I've got a few of those small green houses that u can assemble on the top deck, so am all ready for sowing in the winter...its just starting to get cold again...23 degrees celcius...
Has anyone else tried growing mustard seed for their chooks - - - over here they germinate in a few days, and you get a decent sized crop within a week, and my girls love them!!!
