any one have a idea of what kind of squash this is and how to cook it?
Probably a hybrid, most likely some form of winter squash.

From: https://whatscookingamerica.net/squash.htm

"Cooking Winter Squash:

When cooking pumpkin and squash recipes, remember that any sweet, orange-fleshed pumpkin or squash can be substituted for another in recipes.

Winter squash can be cut in halves or pieces.

Dress any cooked winter squash with butter and herbs, a cream sauce, cheese sauce, maple syrup and nuts, marinara sauce or stewed fruit.

Any type of mashed or pureed squash can be used in the place of canned pumpkin in soups, pies, cookies or quick breads. Chunks of squash can be added to soups, stews and casseroles."

not sure whether its a winter squash or maybe a new type of summer but either way i have to try to cook it, i cut one end off and its white inside too, like a patty pan, since its so large, i might try frying it like i do the patty pans, husband loves the pp's fried in pancake batter( i do too)
but, i forgot to say, thank you for the help:hugs
will let you know how it turns out

Personally I find all squash are best cooked in a shallow water bath with foil over the top. Halved, seeds scooped out, salt, pepper, and a pat of butter in the seed well. Fill baking pan about 1/2 to an inch of water. It sweetens them up. I tried other methods and they don't taste very good to me cooked any other way.
