we got plowed out at 4PM on Thursday.
have snow banks that will not melt until July.
i want to get to a hardware store and buy a
jack nut. I know there is such a thing, but I
don't know if the hardware store will have them.
I could get one from amazon, but I really don't
need a hundred of them..

I'm sure you can get some. You will probably need to buy about 5 pieces in a prepackaged envelope now. That is how things get sold now.
Ace Hardware by me does still have a set of drawers with different screw types, that you purchase as many as needed.

yeah, that's how things are sold now a days.
I need only one right now, maybe one more later on.
I could buy just one online, .89 cents, but the
shipping is $8.oo.
I can use the tractor as is, in a pinch..
If it were above 55F, I could JB weld a nut on it.
In my next life I will have a heated garage.
and as long as I am at it, I am going to be filthy rich.

for sure, and I wouldn't be driving a 65 year old tractor, either.
and I would hire the repairs done..
hire all my work and chores done.

One of the Ace hdwe stores has jack nuts by the each. $1.45/ea
only up to 1/4" though.. I will give it a try. I would prefer
a larger size..

we used to have a few of those, but they are
long gone. the box stores drove them out..
I miss them.
I decided to drill a hole all the way through the
other side of the tubular frame and just run
a long 3/8" bolt all the way through and nut it.
tomorrow is supposed to be 38F and sunny.
I'll dress warm and bite the bullet for a half hour.
we had freezing rain this morning. a couple
of trees broke off or lost big branches.
we call that volunteer firewood..
