I have two of the All American 30qt Canners More for capacity than anything else. They hold 14 quart jars each. When I can stock, I make it in 80-90 quart batches. I also use a two burner propane stove on my deck for summer canning. I also can dry beans for the convenience of having them ready to go on the shelf. I can do about 2 1/2 pounds of beans in pint jars with a single load.

When pressure canning, you only need about 4" of water in the pot and a couple good glugs of white vinegar will help keep jars clean.

I plan on doing some canning this year. I have canned jellies, jams, tomatoes & pickles in a water bath. It's been a while for the tomatoes & pickles, but I have NEVER used a pressure canner.

A few questions:
What would be the best canner to start out with?
What canner do you use and why?
Any tips/tricks you would like to pass to a new canner?

I've been looking at this one on Amazon, but I wanted to get y'alls opinion on it first.

To me this one is the standard. Yes, pricey, but will stand the test of time. These things have been handed down through generations over and over. Why buy a starter that you'll only outgrow? If you really don't want to continue canning I'd think this would be super easy to sell.

They definitely are. Gardening was almost too easy last year. I needed to water more but standing there with a hose while I munched on beans and cucumbers sure beats bending over and trying to weed without tears.
I just LOVE your gardens, so beautiful! And yes, anything that gets the plants off the ground for maintenance is huge for people with knee and/or other health issues. I hope we can get our raised block garden done in the very early spring, before it's planting time, because I'm really looking forward to being able to sit on the blocks for weeding and such. It's going to be so much easier!

Found this quote yesterday and thought it would fit right in here!
