Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

I'm in need of a new wheelbarrow. Nothing is wrong with the one I have, but I've wanted a 2 wheel barrow for quite a while. Problem is, the only ones I can find affordable are the poly/plastic/rubber ones. I've always had a steel wheelbarrow. Any of ya'll have the poly wheelbarrows? If so, how well do they hold up?

I was in the landscaping business for years and I prefer poly wheelbarrows. They are much easier to load onto the truck or if you hang it on a wall or rack. The two wheeled ones though I hated. I bought one and almost hated it immediately. They don't steer as well and you have to lift them to dump them out completely. I actually took mine apart to repair/refurbish a single wheeled one. Push it around in the store a little to see how you like it.

I use a plastic kid's sled during snow season. 2 wheeled wb during bare ground season.

4 more days, and spring will be on the way.
Yes, the winter solstice is almost here, then the days will slowly start getting longer. Really slowly, unfortunately. There's still a long winter ahead. :tongue I already can't wait for spring!

Last time I was hanging out in Minnesota, we entertained ourselves tossing hot water and watching it turn to snow with a hiss! Not much to do in Ely in January but dogsled, CC ski and thaw  31 below this day. Loved every minute though! There is something weirdly crazy about driving your vehicle out on the ice over a deep lake.

You know, I just can't do that - too eerie! I know in the middle of winter, the ice on lakes is really thick and all, but I just can't bring myself to go out on the ice, let alone drive a vehicle with a heavy fish house out there. What's really scary is when it starts to warm up in the spring and there's warnings to stay off the lakes, some "daredevils" are still out there with their vehicles and fish houses, just tempting fate.

We don't even have a wheelbarrow. Hubs has carts that hook up to the riding lawnmower, and they are good for lots of different chores, including hauling firewood up to the porch.

:thumbsup
We have progressed from the poly 2-wheeler barrow to the pull-along cart behind the riding mower. The only flat place we have on the property is the garden and chicken yard. Pushing that wheelbarrow up and downhill got old about the time I started getting AARP letters. Got a used Kubota with a front loader now that is a game changer for managing the property. Might get an extra decade out here on the farm.
