Oh, our little dwarf rabbit, "Mr. Bun" was very tame. We held him a lot, and even when we moved cross-country, he laid on my lap in the truck the whole way. When we stopped to eat, I'd just put him in his crate. He was funny, when I'd lay down by him, he would come over and lick my face for a loooong time. Not sure why, but he seemed to enjoy it. I wondered if it was sort of like a salt block for him - lol.

:lau He was probably grooming you. Trying to return the affection you showed him.
You were his herd. :love

All my rabbits can be handled. The males are just gross, especially as we head towards breeding season again. I won't be keeping them long term. They aren't my thing.

They are adorable to look at, but the rest is a PITA. I would assume rabbits make decent pets when spayed and neutered, but I will always prefer a dog, and even a cat would be better. With rabbits I feel like I'm keeping prisoners.

When my little dog wasn't feeling well I took her into the rabbit area. The male kept trying to mount her, I had to keep knocking him off with my foot until I could get my poor dog out of there.

Good thing your cat was able to fight off that fresh buck. I now truly understand the phrase breeding like rabbits, and mad as a March hare.

Some people put them in exercise pens. I worry about hawks though. Maybe i could make bunny tractors where they have a shelter and a run. Bet they would like that.

Do a youtube search for Daniel Salatin Rabbit tractor He ended up using slats in the bottom to keep them from digging out.
