A good test is to place several of the kernels in a wet paper towel out of direct sunlight, like on a counter. Keep the paper towel moist, crumpling it up helps. Unfold and check for sprouts after a couple of days.

Warm, and I find putting it into a jar or glass keeps it moist longer too.

I put seeds in damp paper towels then slide them into a baggy and throw them on the cable box. Shh don't tell LOL! Works great. I started a ton of papaya seeds and cacao (chocolate tree) seeds that way.
