Gardening w/Ducks - How do you keep a garden with ducks!?

Some things that my ducks don't bother with (unbelievable I know, lol) is the rosemary from my herb garden. They will eat pretty much all the rest but my rosemary lasted for a very long time last year, I will probably plant some again. Oh and it was on the ground!

I bought hanging planters with the coconut coir liners, pitched the liners. I load the baskets with lettuces, spinach, weeds, fruits, etc. I also throw spinach and peas in their pools when I refill them. I pull weeds for my birds...Purslane, chickweed, yellow wood sorrel, plantain, etc. It's all good for them. Keeping anything growing is just not gonna happen. Here anyway. I always blamed the chickens and their scratching & dustbathing, but I suspect the ducks took part in it as well.
I don't know how many ducks you'll have, but I have 11 here. Hanging baskets wouldn't last long. They aren't going to just nibble. But that's MY ducks, and they're kind of jerks. I love them, but I won't lie.

Do you think three ducks would do as much damage to the hanging baskets? And the basket filled with food is a good idea too. Another idea that I was thinking of was putting a pile of lawn clippings in, so they can forage. It wouldn't be as 'pretty' as green grass a'growing, but I think it would make the ducks relatively happy.

Only my games chickens could get to the hanging baskets I had out none of my ducks are that agile,

Maybe not. Maybe plant some stuff in the hanging baskets that would be okay for them to demolish, see how it goes. It probably depends on how many baskets, if just 2 or 3, they would get more damage than, say 10 cute little baskets.
As far as the grass clippings, they love to forage through them, but the clippings will smell ferociously bad after a couple of days. Be prepared to clean them out.
Ducks and chickens really don't care how hard I work to make things pretty for them, they just want to have fun. I gave up a long time ago. Keeping things clean, giving them the right food, and giving them stuff to forage through, along with plenty of exercise is all that matters. So yea, I'm not on Instagram, haha!

Lol yeah I agree. Our pen may not be the prettiest, but the ducks won't care!
