Garter snakes are a danger to crickets and minnows, and that's about it.

And kids fingertips lol

DH caught one and DD (who was 15 at the time) wanted to hold it. Next thing I know she is screaming...GET IT OFF!! I walked back in the room and the little snake is hanging from her fingertip and she is shrieking lol I had to gently pry the snakes tiny mouth off her finger while laughing hysterically!

No danger, well except to the snakes. The chickens will definately go after them. For some fun get yourself some earth worms and when you see the garters give them a worm. They love em. I love feeding garters.

Yeah, my chickens have taken to hunting for garter snakes and frogs. It's pretty gruesome. My 4 y.o. daughter pointed at the chickens one day and said, "Mama- what are they doing to that frog? Hey- I didn't know they eat meat. Cool!!! I can see his guts!!" It was disgusting watching them rip that poor frog apart in a game of "Keep Away".
