garlic and cider vinegar

Do garlic and cider vinegar reduce or prevent worms? I use verm-x but am worried that they haven't had enough of the treatment and might suffer as a result

Apple Cider vinegar with 'the mother' is a great preventative however, your chickens need to be worm free prior. IT also aids in digestion among other things.
Garlic is good for them too but too much too often can cause eggs to have an 'off' flavour.

I've only read about using garlic for yeast infections and ACV for probiotics in the mother. Probiotics will help the general health of the chickens making them more resistant to infection in general, but they don't work directly against worms.

The only supplement I've heard that works directly against worms is food grade DE.

I do wonder what is in verm-x...

I have been told that you can add 1 cup apple cider vinegar & 2 cloves garlic (1 clove elephant garlic), halved to 5 gallons of water for them, which acts as antibacterial and antifungal agents. Is this true?

I use apple cider vinegar to help with loose poo problems. It works really well for that. I never heard of usin it for worms...

In the Learning Center on here, there is a recipe for 1 tbs cidar vinegar per gallon water...and on the garlic, just peel and put in dish.

I have read a lot on here about this and it seems to be the fav for "natural" wormer.

We are trying it now ourselves and they don't seem to know it is in there

chopped pumpkin seeds - unsalted, please- are a great natural wormer, too. Many mentions on this site as well.

Yes, I have read a lot about them. My kids love any type of melon/pumpkin. I will be growing a ton of them next year...just for the chickens

AAHHH, really? Good to know, haven't heard that one...I would have been hating life, but that makes since to have something to go in with the seeds.

I am sitting here with a girl with wet pox...and feeding & gining her water. Since she doesn't want to lower her head due to lack of being able to breath...

question is...should I just let her go? or help her? how long should I try to feed & water her?

I am a realist...totally OK with "nature" or mercy killing...so can't be offended very easily

If you think there is a chance, I can and will do the "hospice" care...but ...
