I wasn't always this lucky. We used to have to commute 42 miles round trip to work. We finally found a place in Hesperia - the only city up here that allows 130 small fowl, no limit on roos and 8 large livestock.

Have a company car. They do charge us a token fee for personal mileage though. I expect it will go up another nickel this summer. Of course that includes gas and all maintenance. I drive 40 miles to work each way and it cost around 100.00 a month including gas, tires, oil and insurance. I put on about 48k a year so get a new Grand Caravan every 18 months. Now our family truck which gets about 1000 miles a year put on it is more expensive. It gets about 12 miles per gallon because we use it for towing a 4 horse trailer. We fill it up about 3 times per year. Cost about 130.00 per fill up. If I lost my company car I would have to get a scooter or something

.

It's a vicious cycle. The only way to reduce gas consumption is to jack prices. Jacking prices on gas raises everything else because of transportation costs. Just can't win.

I am dreading going to our cabin for Fourth of July weekend. It's a 1 ton Dodge Ram Van (15 passenger with a big V8) and gets about 8 miles per gallon.. and we have a 5 hour drive

Secret savings is already starting for gas on that trip....

I am driving the little old pickup truck more than my nicer newer car, about 10 mpg better in the truck....and besides, I am using the truck for working at moms anyway (it was her truck til she stopped driving)

Everyone is charging about $4.00 per gal. here but walmart is still at $3.50 so that is where we get gas it was $3.45 so it went up .05

I would check your walmarts and costco....find cheapest gas in your area.

At this link below you can click on your state and find the cheapest gas on that day in your area. Might help some of you.

I can't use walmart gas. Well, any gas with ethanol as my trucks spits and sputters and tries to die out when I run that ethanol junk in it. But, most stations in town there are about the same as Walmart anyways... within 5 cents. Does bother me I have to pay $0.10/gal MORE for a LOWER octane gas to avoid the ethanol, though.

I sold my 250cc m/c a year ago because on my microscopic income it was expensive to feed. I've been getting by on riding a bicycle (1-speed coaster-brake cruiser the land owner brought home from Burning Man, my only expense for it being some Slime for the tires) and borrowing the car, but now I'm borrowing the car as little as possible. I'm gonna get the Burley trailer I got for $4 a couple of years ago roadworthy and start using that, I can take a load of recycling into town and come back with chicken feed or groceries.

The cruiser bike I ride is a big, klunky, heavy, Flintstone thing. But, I own my town with it. It's great getting around without gas.
