So I’ve already made a post about this chicken and she recovered, but after a day she started showing the same symptoms and is gasping for air. Her comb is also noticeably flopped and she isn’t drinking or eating by herself. I’ve been giving her water from a syringe. She’s also not active and usually sits right by the food and water container that we have for her. I live in north texas in case that helps with what she might have. It also sounds like she’s farting sometimes, and I’ve noticed that her poop is clear and runny. She had small normal poops every couple of minutes last night as well

Is that a drop of water on her beak or does she have nasal discharge? Her head also looks dirty or bloody? Has the the flock been bullying her?

The watery poop may just be from water but no food. If she hasn't eaten anything at all for over a day I would see if she'd drink a little sugar water for energy. Do you know how old she is?

That was a drop of water. The flock was bullying her so we pulled her out and she’s been in my room since. We’ve sprayed the injured area with medicine to prevent infection. I’m not too sure about her age, I’d have to ask her previous owner. She’s also been eating eggs that I’ve cooked for her but she won’t touch the normal feed we give to the other chickens. I forgot to mention but she has been shaking her head and sneezing.

Poor girl, she's probably really stressed and stressed chickens get sick real easy. I'd keep her in a calm, quiet place to relax until she 100%.

I'd check her over closely for mites and lice. There are a couple tiny black dots in the pic near her eye that look like they could be mites, and mites will drive a chicken crazy as well as make them extremely week. Do you know when she was last dewormed?

Probably going to move her out of my room then, I play a ton of games so I’m usually talking all day. I think the black spots is blood but I’ll check her for mites. All I know in terms of deworming is that it’s been a couple of months since her last.

If you have a pet cam it'd be helpful to know if she has trouble breathing all the time or if it eases when there are fewer stressors. Also have you checked her mouth and throat for lesions?

My chickens aren't crazy about their pellets, but do eat them right up when I wet them into a mash and mix in a spoonful of plain yogurt. You might give that or something similar a try if you haven't already.

started to give her tylan50.

We are giving her another antibiotic via injection into her breast but even after a week she is still gasping desperately for air. When I put my hand underneath her, I can feel her lungs trying to get as much air as possible.

It also sounds like she’s farting sometimes, and I’ve noticed that her poop is clear and runny.

Can you please get a video of her actions?

For video, upload to YouTube and provide a link.
Thanks!:highfive:

You mention it sounds like she's farting.
If you feel her body, under her wings, her abdomen, etc., do you feel anything like air under her skin? Can you have a friend or family member help you examine her?
Look at the diagrams below to see where the location of the 9 Air Sacs are located on a bird, feel around those areas and look at her skin for what would be an air bubble or swelling.

Did she get better with Tylan or stay the same. You gave her injections of another antibiotic, what was it and where on the body did you give the injections? Any necrosis at the injection site? Did she improve with the injections?

How is she housed? She's in your room - is she worse or the same since being in your room? Any air fresheners or sprays being used in your room?

Is her crop emptying overnight?

I don’t know what this could be, so im not saying to force her to eat or whatnot because for all i know it could be something where she shouldn’t be really eating. But, how i get my chickens to eat (they don’t really like pellets either) is to add them to some hot water and stir. Of course, make sure its not hot when you serve it. But since mine like it so much, if their sick, i make a teaspoon of it and put say, nutri drench in it. I do so little to insure they eat it up. If they consume it all, i give them normal mash with unlimited access.

Hey, sorry for not checking the comments until now. From what I can tell her condition has improved, she isn’t gasping for air and is more energetic etc. The improvement was a couple of hours ago, so basically at night. We did put a rooster in my room as he started behaving sick as well (droopy tail, sitting in one place for hours so I’m probably going to make another post about him) and when I came in to check on them she wasn’t gasping anymore and began to eat by herself. I’ll check up on her in the morning and see how she’s doing and give an update.

We stopped giving her tylan as her condition wasn’t improving. The new antibiotics name is liquamycin and we’ve injected her around 3 times in the past week. She was injected in her breasts with this. From what I could tell, she did stop sneezing after these but continued to gasp.
