Today we noticed my daughter's 2 year black shouldered peacock wheezing, a coughing sound like he's trying to clear his throat and gasping for air. Also he occasionally shakes his head. He was treated with topical ivermectin for cattle wormer on april 23, so would/could it be gapeworms or is this more likely respiratory? I have some safeguard for goats liquid wormer as well, that I have not used yet, but should I treat this as respiratory or worms or can you put wormer and antibiotics in the water together and treat for both possiblilties? Please help!

I will have to see if I can find any avian vets and if theyre even open right now. I think the closest one to me is an hour away. Thank you for the response and suggestion!!

oh, that's great! I was under the impression it had to be an avian vet. I was going to call to any avian vets that were open and make the trip, but that makes it so much easier:) Thank you!

So no gape worms, ended up continuing treatment for respiratory illness and he is now symptom free :weethank you for your replies!!!
