Gay rooster? how unusual is this in the chicken world?

My silkies are very vocal. They even "scream" sometimes when they are unhappy, such as when I kick their broody butts off the nest and take their eggs. I thought one was definitely a rooster, then I thought the other one was a rooster for sure, and they both turned out to be hens.

That will be a wonderful thing if my silkie is a hen. I will post a current photo with the silkie and see what everyone thinks. The other photos are from October and since then the comb got a little bigger. This is my only silkie so it's harder for me to tell. The silkie is much larger than what I thought a silkie is supposed to be, but he/she is still very young.
I have the red dirt and no matter how much I try to keep them clean they love digging in it.

I just took this photos...

Lol.. Well since yours have come out of the closet.. I guess I'll tell you about mine..

I let my seramas out day before yesterday, and then I let my big chickens out... I went inside for just a minute.. came back out, and to my suprise, my ee roo was mounting my serama roo.. My serama roo was non to pleased....

this is funny, just this morning my boss was telling me that when he was a teenager he worked at a farm and took care of the chickens and couldn't believe that the roos would mate with each other even though there were plenty of hens to go around...lol....

I had a silver laced I thought was a she and the rooster repeatedly tried to mount him. He kept doing it even after seeing the silverlaced trying to mount the hens. I ended up eating the silverlaced though because he was a mean old thing.

I have a young Buff Brahma Bantam rooster (10 month old) who is in loved my blue splash silkie rooster (5 or 6 month old). They sleep together, they eat together, they dust bath together, they are pretty much inseparable. I've seen the Brahama rooster trying to mount the silkie several times. Until now I never worried about because I always thought the silkie was a hen, but now my "hen" is trying to crow in the morning and I am 99.9* sure that “she” is actually a “he“.
The brahma rooster has three brahma hens, but he seems to like the company of the silkie most. When I first introduce the group of Brahma to my flock the silkie was new and very scared. He immediately attached himself to the brahma group and seek the protection of the brahma rooster ( I use to have another rooster in the flock that was bulling the silkie). Since then the brahma rooster is spending more time with the silkie than with his own hens. Is it possible that he is just confused about the sex of the silkie?
Do chickens know when there is a rooster or a hen? Is this sort of behavior normal? The silkie is extremely gently and sweet.

This photos are from the first week I introduce the brahma and the silkie to my flock.

Poor silkie, he use to hide his head underneath the brahma rooster.

Hmm, seems pretty normal to me. Parakeets are often known for liking the same gender, and I guess since chickens are birds, it's not too different.

OMG.....since I'm now keeping bees and chickens, I never thought this would be the way I taught the birds and the bees to my 12 year old son

But seriously, we shared the reading of this post and my son suggested that one of them may be transgender. He said, "Maybe it's the Bruce Jenner of chickens" I'm still laughing.

Oh my:p. Good joke, good kidXD. Like, him calling them transgender, not the Bruce Jenner thing, because I don't know who that is:p.
