I am looking for ways to prevent hawks from getting at my chickens when I get them. Someone told me that geese are supposed to be good in protecting chickens from hawks as the hawks seem to not want to attack chickens when geese are present. I don't know if this is true and I tried researching it on the internet but didn't find anything. Anyone know if this is true, and if it is, where is a good place to get geese from? I found them in places that sell chickens online, but they have to be ordered in lots of 9. I don't need 9 geese, or at least I don't think I do. Thanks!

Yes, white chines geese work great on our farm. We find that hawks will not come within a quarter acre of a goose.

I got mine from Meyer Hatchery.

Thanks

We have 9 white and 5 brown chinese geese and have had a few hawk attacks.
Our birds cover 3 acres so maybe ours is too big of an area to be effective, idk.
Side note one attack was on our huge white muscovy drake. He is almost as big as the geese.
