Geese & Duck People UNITE

I wish I could hear them, mothergoose, or see them running around my yard, for that matter.

They'd probably outshine my rouens though and we can't have that.

DrakeMaiden,
It is hard for me to choose a favorite duck. Each breed we raise have so many different quailities.
I love the big ducks. My husband loves the smaller breeds.
It is hard for me to choose between the exhibition rouens and the silver appleyards...oh and then not to mention the muscovies...I love muscovies!

Here is a few Ex. rouens.

Awwww . . . I love rouens! But I also really really really want silver appleyards! Lucky you.

I have yet to meet a muscovy, so I haven't formed any attatchments yet.

DrakeMaiden,
You will have to meet up with a muscovy. they are large, they hiss instead of quack, excellent flyers and super broodies. And above all else, the tail wag!

Mothergoose:
I will definitely look into it. As you say, they seem to posses some appeal that photos just don't do justice.

Tail wags are always good in my book!

Hee hee, I also love the wing stretches. Of the muscovies I have seen, your white & black one is the cutest to date.

Edited to add: Ha ha, no I don't mean "go on a date with."

I haven't had the pleasure to meet a muscovy yet, but someone on here had a video not too long ago, and there was a muscovy on there, doing the tail wag.

I think it was the cutest thing I have seen in a long time, and whenever I hear/see muscovies on here, I think of that video

Yep, she is a sweetie. I honestly have lost track of how many babies she has hatched for me.
I love watching them. I have muscovy hens that will make nests in the hayloft of our barn. When they hatch the mom flies down and waits for her babies to jump out. (like wood ducks) It is amazing and they never miss a beat. Tough little guys.
We let our muscovies hatch all their own eggs and I love when we have moms with tons of babies trailing behind them. They have to be by far the easiest ducks to keep.

I wish I could find it for you, but I *want* to say it was around the time I joined, or shortly after, and I don't remember who posted it, as I hadn't posted much yet. Don't quote me on the time frame-I have 3 sons, and lots of chickens, so my brain is pretty scattered most of the time
