I had a drake duck that went after my first Sebastopol goslings and he shock her and I found her and she died minutes after he mauled her in my lap. In breeding season I would NOT let any of your chickens or ducks or geese run together. Just some good common sense.

It's much better to use caution during mating season especially when you have small and large together.

My goslings are still quite young, about 7 or 8 weeks. They will ruthlessly bully any other type of bird. I have no doubt they would kill if left alone with the others. They are fierce and bite their necks, etc. Even the turkey that probably outweighs them, they go after him with a vengeance. These guys started being mean before they were even 2 weeks old and they were being raised with the other babies.

My geese are 6 weeks old and they sometimes go after a rooster or duck from the other clan (they arrived with 2 buffs ducks who they are best buddies with).

The gander was harassing my crippled silkie hen for coming into their corner. I grabbed him mid shake on her and gave him a good chewing out. Since then he has yet to bother her again. She is allowed to eat in his corner when he will run other hens out. Kind of funny to watch.

I told him his job it to protect her not hurt her. Sounds silly I know but he has never hurt her since. They do go after the roosters who get overly aggressive with the hens and I am fine with that. Nothing to nasty just a grab and honking.

Used to have an African and an Embden. Never had issues with them being vicious.

Goodness, I have 5 geese, 2 ganders, a number of muscovies and chickens, all mix together in about an acre. The only time I get bullying is at feed-time, when the geese try to chase the others away. The others, including hens with chicks, just learn to scoot off to the other piles of food (I spread it about because of the competition). The geese are perfectly behaved with the chicks, just curious, as they are with new muscovy ducklings. Very funny to watch their curiosity, but they never try to hurt the little ones. They just bully the ducks and chickens by grabbing tail feathers to see them off the food. I have one muscovy hen that tries to stand up to the geese. Sometimes they back off, sometimes not, but nothing ever serious. Today the muscovy drake gave the older gander a dose of his own medicine and the geese moved off mumbling among themselves.
I raised 3 geese from the age of 2 days, the others were raised naturally, and they all behave much the same towards the other birds,. They are entering the breeding season, 2 geese have started laying. we´re going into winter here, weird how they wait until the winter, so I will keep an eye on things now I´ve read what has happened with some. What sad experiences.
