Geese or ducks?

My dad is giving me the choice on getting a small flock of ducks or a small flock of geese? If you were in my shoes what would you pick ducks or geese? I need advice?

Humm....

It is going to depend on a couple of things.

Why do you want them? Eggs? Meat? Just because they look cool?

Are you going to have boys are well as girls?

A 5 lb Welsh Harlequin drake may get protective and go after you but can't do any damage. A 20lb African gander could mess you UP!

I have ducks and I love them. I would get geese too if I had room, but you have to consider the breed.

I LOVE my goose, but the ducks are totally where it's at! They are cute, funny, quack (instead of SCREAM/HONK), have adorable webby feet, and eat things like worms... Get ducks. no question.

In that case, get a trio of ducks. Of all the breeds I have had, I vote Welsh Harlequins. The are friendly, don't fly and are very cute. They also lay eggs like mad and the eggs make very nummy quiche!

GET GEESE!! They are way more sociable and sweet (IMO) thank ducks. All my geese let me pick them up and love all over them, but If i try to even go near the ducks they act like i'm an ax murderer that has just escaped prison to kill them!!! and I incubated both from eggs. So in my experience geese are much better than ducks!!!

Ducks are easier to manage, and are very cute. Geese have big personalities, but the ganders can be mean, especially in the breeding season. If I were to get geese as pets, i would order only females.

Geese! Ducks are wonderful. of course, but they simply can't compare. Getting geese is like getting feathered dogs.
