I just had to say I LOVE your avi.
Anyway, I've never kept either personally, but in my (limited) experiance...it depends on if you're going to have a pair (as in male and female) and how social you want to be with them. I have a pair of mallards nesting by my house and haven't been attacked by the drake yet (they chose to be close, and I can't completely avoid being in their area to come and go). I have, however, been run off by ganders this time of the year when venturing too close to nests I wasn't aware of. However, my fav animals to visit on the farm by my aunt and uncles (in non-breeding season) were the geese. I'm willing to bet that drakes can get a little touchy this time of the year too, but given the size difference, I'd imagine the pain they can inflict is a good bit different. I would say that you should research individual breeds of each and their characteristics, as different breeds will have totally different personalities within both species (and of course, they are all individuals too).
