Anyone have a seed source for a geese pasture? I'm going to do a bunch a clover, but was wondering if there was anyone out there that made mixes just for geese. Been googling but not finding anything.

Try hunter supply places, just as they will have plants/seeds to attract deer to your stands they have packages to make your place a feeding area for Canada geese and/or ducks. I never saved any of the sites when I found them. I think I remember that Ducks Unlimited had stuff on one of their sites.

I checked, but decided to make my own mix. What do you think:

1lb orchardgrass
2lb rye grass
1lb timothy grass
2lb dutch white clover
2lb new zealand white clover

looks ok but I would increase the orchard grass at the expense of the rye grass. Here rye grass is an annual and no goose is ever going to let it go to seed! orchard grass and the clovers will come up from the roots if the geese don't dig them up and eat them too. I had a bunch of dutch clover in my yard but after three years of grazing it was long gone. Here they use some sort of pea to hold lawns over to the fall which is the only time you have a shot to establish normal lawn grasses. Austrian something peas. the geese loved them and they bounced back after every rain. ~gd

I picked a perennial rye grass, but I still might go with more orchardgrass. My thought was I could spread seed every spring and fall. However the way the two youngens eat, I can't imagine what their intake will be once they are full grown!
