I have a black silkie hen named Chocobo and for the past few weeks she has been very broody. We know she's a hen because she is our only bantam in with our golden sex-links and we've gotten eggs from her.
Anyway, I went away for the weekend and when I came back she rushed out of the coop, tried to mount one of our hens and then keeps stretching her neck like our white silkie roosters did before we got rid of them. She doesn't have any male plumage and she had been sitting on her nest just the day before. She did the same thing this morning but at night seems to act the same.
What the heck happened?? I've heard of chickens damaging their ovaries and doing this. What do you guys think?
