I hatched two chicks right before Christmas. Their father is a Barred Rock. I had read that since the father is a Barred Rock that he'd pass on the barring genes for sexing them. Is this true? If so, any guesses on what I have. I assume the more speckled one is a male and the other is a female. I have a close up of the one I think is a boy. Its beak is redder making me think that could indicate boy. The last picture you can see the difference in speckling. The boy in question's mom is an EE. the other's mom is an ISA Brown. They hatched December 18th & 19th...so about a month old now. Thanks for any input.
