I hatched two chicks right before Christmas. Their father is a Barred Rock. I had read that since the father is a Barred Rock that he'd pass on the barring genes for sexing them. Is this true? If so, any guesses on what I have. I assume the more speckled one is a male and the other is a female. I have a close up of the one I think is a boy. Its beak is redder making me think that could indicate boy
. The last picture you can see the difference in speckling. The boy in question's mom is an EE. the other's mom is an ISA Brown. They hatched December 18th & 19th...so about a month old now. Thanks for any input.
