So this is Muffin....she is about 16-17 wks. I WAS sure Muffin was a pullet, but I am now starting to second guess myself. She/he has always had a poofy/cotton ball type crest. It has started getting a little bit scraggly but not too bad yet. My bigger concern is more the fact that she is acting a little more rooish. Since she is my first and only Polish, Im not sure if her personality is just typical for the breed or if it is just more typical for a roo. She has also started developing some red in the wattles area.
She tends to stretch her neck and run across the yard ALOT when free ranging. Kinda makes me think Road runner! I have 3 other hens out there with her. 2 of them she has been raised with. When those 2 wander to the side of the house, she follows them at a run....keeping tabs on them? She is more high strung than the others and I have noticed always like to be on the top roost. She can get pretty noisy, but I havent heard any sign of crowing at all.....they all just kinda talk amoungst themselves....
Any opinions would be appreciated!

Thanks leadwolf....do you know much about Polish personalities? Do they tend to be kind of flighty and all over the place? The funny thing is that my Orphington has always seemed to be the leader of my small group, but now as this one grows, she seems to be taking over.

I've had several polish...they can be flighty. My pullet was rather shy and the others picked on her :( She was beautiful and we all loved her, even my DH. We lost her to Marek's.

Here is our Phyllis...gone but not forgotten...

She looks a lot like Muffin but not as red in the wattles.....

Thaks so much, you have been a big help! I am feeling a little better.

She was only about 11 weeks old in these pics..she did develop wattles and layed big, beautiful white eggs :)

Could you get a close up shot of Muffin's side? I just want to get a good view of her saddle/hackle area before I make my final decision.

I would say pullet. I've got some 22 wk olds that I would swear are roos, but no hackle/saddles or crowing, plus a lot more eggs that they should be laying, so I think they are girls.

My polish ZOINKS! (yeah, that's his name) was really high strung, and couldn't see very well. His best friend was a silkie, they were really cute together...

They are spastic for sure lol. I find them very amusing. The less they can see, the easier it is to scare them :p

You definitely have a pullet!
