Alright, I have not needed sexing help on a chicken for a hot while! But this one is weird to me.
20 weeks old, unsure exactly breeds but presumed to be an australorp x speckled sussex (or RIR).
Seems pullet like in every other aspect, comb & wattles seem pullet. Leg size, pullet. MOST feathers scream pullet.
But the straight up tail is throwing me, it has long feathers where saddle feathers would be - but they're pullet like, to me.
Every chance I'm just over thinking this one 🤣

Honestly, I'm leaning towards cockerel, due to the curled and long tail/saddle feathers, and the red color of the comb, despite the size.
That's definitely the way I'm leaning! I've only had 1 roo before that began looking like a roo after 20 weeks, but I have a feeling this one might be another. Up until about 18/19 weeks this one looked like a normal pullet, the tail & "saddle" ish feathers have only just popped up😅

I’m thinking cockerel as well, just looking at the general body shape, the leaner build and giant feet. Those gorgeous purplish feathers in the first couple pics look like male hackles to me as well. :)

If it was a very slow developer and/or had health problems as it developed then I could see it being a late cockerel. Otherwise I think it's a pullet. It has a pea comb so at least one of its parents did too.
Gotcha!
None of our chickens these days have pea combs, we lost our pea comb girl almost a year ago.
This one was a healthy baby, no issues growing or anything of the sort.... so 🤞 for a pullet!
