Gender identity crisis

You will probably have to separate them to keep the males from over mating her. Get a couple pullets to keep her company, or get like ten pullets so you can keep the boys and girls together.

Unfortunately we will have to rehome the boys like we did with the other 2. Although we have 2 acres of land we are still in city limits and roosters are not allowed. I would love to get some more girls but am not sure where to get them from.

You can look at the Buy Sell Trade section on this website, or look for breeders. Another thing to look into is getting ex Battery hens from the egg industry. They are usually two or three years old, but they still lay and are in need of a nice home after the misery they went through. Sanctuaries and rescue places will have them, or know of where you can get them from. Shelters and sanctuaries usually have hens, too, but you have to prove that you are not going to kill them, or kill other birds on the property.

Thanks for the ideas. I did check the re-homing section on here and have checked my local humane society. I will look into the egg industry hens.
