Gender Identity Help Needed Please

Hi everyone,

As a family we are new to raising chickens but welcomed 10 chicks to the world after incubating them. We are very attached to them all but after 10 weeks are starting to wonder if they are girls or boys. We have 7 different breeds and so apart from our silkies (we have three) have nothing to compare them to.

Can you help by giving your options on three of them.1) A Light Sussex

2) A Lavender Arracana

3) A Welsummer

Birds 2 and 3 are pullets. That's a lot of comb for a 10 week pullet on 1 - very likely a cockerel.

The Sussex is a possible cockerel. The rest look like pullets as far as I can tell but better photos of their combs would help.

Welsummer looks correct, and so does Light Sussex.
The second is not a Lavender Araucana. Most likely an EE.

The OP is likely located outside the US. In Australia (I believe) and in Europe Araucanas can be crested and have tails, instead of the strictly rumpless and tufted Araucanas of the US

I don't live in the US, but I guess I've gotten used to the US breed requirements.
Although I think it's the same where I come from.

The variation is so interesting! The two strains seem almost opposite! I am not sure exactly what countries go by what standard. I do like how this strain doesn't have the lethal allele from the tufts which is nice. I agree on you with gender guesses though!

Yep, the other two are pullets.
