I have heard of chickens hatching duck eggs. So it's possible.

Like amiga said, larger breeds do tend to start MUCH later. My rouen female is a heavy breed and she just started laying, she is like 6 months old and my mom has only seen 1 egg in the yard so far.

I would be careful with mating though. Your runners will be maybe 4 lbs. Your muscovy will be 9+ lbs. The drakes could injure/kill the girls because of the weight difference.

And I don't know how likely this is, and I don't want to worry you but to help you avoid tragedy - sometimes the ducks get drowned during mating. So watch really carefully. It may work out, but it's going to depend on your ducks - not all of them behave the same.
