Hello! First time houdan & spitzhauben (golden spangled) owner - we're about 7 weeks and I noticed some red bits on these two birds. Are these both male?

His body feathers have no mottling, he has a white crest instead of a mottled one, has no beard, no fifth toe, his legs are black instead of white with spots, and he has a thin build. All that says Polish to me, not Houdan.

holy smokes!! thanks for the info. Looks totally different from my other polish with his weird spots, then his head crest grew as a straight mohawk and the others males and females all got big fluffy head feathers, with the females getting very rounded feathers. What an odd guy!

Yeah, but Polish can be variable, just like any other breed. He looks happy and healthy, and that's the most important thing.
