I have NO CLUE what gender my 6-7 week old Ameraucana chicks are! Their combs are almost non-existent but I know males of the breed have small combs so its making it almost impossible for me to tell. Any opinions or pointers are appreciated

Thanks!

This is Burberry ... Im thinking rooster on this one, because of the pushy attitude and high tail feathers.

The next one is Tchotchke ... this one I am unsure of. At first I thought rooster since the tail feathers were large and s/he was very bold but now im not so sure. The tail feathers have become more round and s/he has mellowed a bit.

Finally is Juniper ... I think this one is a pullet. S/he has always been very reserved and very rounded in appearance with short tail feathers.

I think you're right in saying that first one may be a boy, I'm thrown a bit because of the lack of caruncle growth but if they are known to have small combs anyway then it's the colour that gets me. There does appear to be a bit of red tinge appearing, when I wouldn't expect a pullets comb to show any colour at all besides a very light baby pink until they're quite a bit older.

But I wouldn't put too much stock in judging gender by behaviour, as some hens can be quite a bit bossier than roosters and some roosters can be just the sweetest things out there!

I think that if the first one was a cockerel, the comb would be more pronounced and redder. I'm leaning towards 3 pullets but repost in another week and I'm sure you'll know by then!

Edited for spelling!
