Welcome to BYC, it appears that you have a male 2021 model.Hi All,
Can anyone tell me the gender of this bird and possibly the age?
Not at the moment but I’m definitely going to work on obtaining a mate. You are welcome.

Definitely good to know. Feel free to send anymore tips!Mating season lasts from March all the way through til August. He could possibly get a little "testy", the closer he gets to 3 years old, during this time. Not all get this way, just be aware that it could happen.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=388465Well..... me personally, I have many "tips". My tips are what is good for our property, family, flocks, pets, neighbors, family etc...
We have 23 years with peafowl. I'm no expert, by any means, but I have had a full spectrum of good and bad behavior from males. Most females are no problem, just extremely protective over chicks. They are large and can really hurt an adult, can seriously hurt a child.
My JoJo (male in the photo) is 3 years 2 months old. Full maturity, hormonal, territorial, stalking, challenging, aggressive... you name it, he does it.
He is not a mean bird. He does love us, he wants to be dominate and show me our space is actually HIS space.
I had decided 2 years ago, I was done with peafowl. Well, JoJo needed a home quickly and I felt led to take him on. Knowing he could possibly have some behavior issues, even though his previous owner stated he did not.
I knew better, but, I felt like JoJo could possibly end up in inexperienced hands and it wouldn't be fair for anyone involved, including JoJo.
And I was correct... he has behavior issues times 10.
If you have never owned one, it's not a good idea to try and have him for a "pet".
It could possibly, not definitely, create some.pretty bad behavior, and it's heartbreaking to wake up one day to your little blue buddy stalking you and eventually attacking.
I am in NO WAY saying every male does this.. It does happen and it is stressful for everyone, including the bird.
I could go on and on.
Keep a real good first aid kit on hand. There is a thread on here..
Peafowl 101, I think.
I can go back and link it in.
103 also has some good info.
Don't be afraid of your guy, just be very aware of his actions, especially during mating season.
