Gender Question Black Australorp

Oh boy. That as many others have already confirmed is a boy.

Any pics of the other Australorp?

Yes, I can send more pix. I opened the little coop and she put herself to bed in my large coop so I now have access to her. I will try to take pictures for you tomorrow.

Hi Again, Everyone.
I didn't know that it was a routine thing that Hatcheries auto-deny rooster claims. Though it was certainly suspicious to me. This is the first time I've tried to claim roosters. I did have a successful photo shoot this morning so I can show you both roos with the hen and some feather close-ups. Two are Black Australorp and the other is a Swedish Flower Hen. The SFH is the one who is crowing and quite please with himself about it. I had to put a No Crow collar on him as he started at 10 weeks old. At that point, the hatchery agreed to reimburse me for the SFH but not the BA and they acted like they were just being nice and doing me a favor and still didn't really believe me.

I have wondered since the SFH is slightly more "male" with his crowing that the BA is holding back? He isn't crowing yet and I thought it might be because of the other roo. Of course, they are still only 13 weeks and my last rooster didn't crow until close to 6 months and he was the only one.

I hope you don't mind pictures...

These are all from this morning. They are 13 weeks old. Two Roosters and a hen.
See if you can guess which is which... :)

Thanks, again, Everyone!

I contacted the hatchery again and shared the link to this page. They just got back to me and are now in agreement that the BA is a rooster. I strongly suspect that your voices here in this forum helped them to come to that conclusion.

I appreciate that in the end, they finally did the right thing and offered me a refund per their policy. But, I can't help wonder if everything will always be a hassle with them in the future. Did they really just not recognize it was a rooster?

Something to think about.

Thanks again!

Pleased you got the right outcome as a result of sharing our views here on BYC. As others have said, it may be a case of it being policy to deny it unless the customer proves beyond doubt. I imagine there are also a few unscrupulous customers who will try it on, so maybe their reticence is justified.
